A cargo drone will be flying between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn through Jan. 23

Skyports Drone Services has been testing and developing drone operations in NYC for a while now. They will be testing a cargo carrying drone on weekdays from now until Jan. 23, Via Brooklyn Daily Eagle

EAST RIVER — THE NEW YORK CITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORP. on Thursday announced via Notify NYC that a drone carrying cargo will be flying over the East River between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays starting Friday, and continuing through Jan. 23. The city said the operation is a trial, and the drone, operated by Skyports Drone Services, will be traveling only over water, not boats, roads or residences.

In April 2025, Downtown Skyport took over the former Downtown Manhattan Heliport in the Wall Street area, with the idea of providing infrastructure for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, as well as last-mile and maritime freight delivery.
