Build by Allan Binder in his blog MUON SORTES built this phone so his children can call out to relatives and grandparents. Oversized arcade buttons create a satisfying interface to automatically dial one of 4 people. To avoid unwanted calls, at random hours, the system also has some built in call hours and duration.
Each button has a light. You can give each person call hours in their own time zone, so grandma’s light is only on when she said she is happy to pick up. A light that is on means “you can call now”. That is a rule a small child can learn in a day.
