The Adafruit IO team has released a small new visual update for components and sensors connected to WipperSnapper devices. Components on your device’s interface are less generic. Not only is this visually prettier – it adds function! The updated Adafruit IO components include both icons and labels to explain what the component does.

Anyone can submit a new component or part to Adafruit IO by modifying a few lines of JSON code. If you want to add your favorite part to Adafruit IO, we’ve added a section to our guide about “How to Add a New Component to Adafruit IO” with instructions on how to add labels and icons to pin-based (digital and analog) components.
We’ve also updated the look of components that display I2C sensor readings from a WipperSnapper device. I2C sensor components now display the sensor’s value along with its SI unit. To do this, “under the hood”, we use a unified sensor API that contains standardized units for each type of sensor.

This update is currently live on Adafruit.IO and there’s more to come (soon)!
