Tl;Dr: Not really.
In this video, Bob Clagett of I Like to Make Stuff was interested in cooling a room in the upper floor of his house that gets really hot to the summer. It is surrounded by 3 attic spaces that get even hotter. So, he installed plastic ridge venting on all of the roof ridges of the home.
After working days in the hot sun and installing the venting, he discovered that the upper room really didn’t see any significant cooling. The attics did drop in temp by 10 degrees.
Bob points out that this might be worth it if you store things in your attic (he does not), but for cooling upper floor rooms, it’s not worth it.
