While Stumpy Nubs is a woodworking channel on YouTube, James often covers tools that can be used in many types of making.
Case in point is this recent “8 Cool tools you didn’t know about.” In the video, he makes the case for having a Dixie cup dispenser in the shop, cheap paper towel and shop towel racks, hockey tape to create better-gripping handles for your tools, and a cordless glue gun.
James also demos something I didn’t even know existed: hand-stitched rasps. Unlike common machine-made rasps, the serrations on these rasps are hand-hammered into the tool. The irregularity of this design actually helps to create a smoother kind of filing. And the hand-stitched course rasp can hog out material more aggressively than the machine-stitched type.
And, his method of wrapping hockey tape to create an ergonomic grip is really an eye opener.
