WipperSnapper Update

Tyeth has been making steady progress on the Learn Guide templates and the new pages for using displays with WipperSnapper. This week, they added dedicated guide pages for the external 1.14″ TFT breakout (the same display used on the TFT Feathers) as well as the 1.54″ TFT breakout, which is also featured on the FunHouse.

There’s also a new WipperSnapper Essentials page covering display support on both the Adafruit ESP32-S2 Reverse TFT Feather and the Adafruit FunHouse Learn Guides.

On the IO website we’ve updated the display components to support a default text size, and set all the displays font sizes to 24px, although those may change in future.
Say goodbye to 8pixel high messages unless you really want them.

New Elements on the Adafruit Learning System

We’ve has been digging into every element available to Adafruit Learning System authors, expanding customization options across the board. We’re adding more flexibility to how authors present warnings, important notes, button styles, and other callouts. There are now many additional color choices and a much wider range of icons, giving authors more control as they craft the perfect Learn Guides for you.
Here’s a sneak peek at a few of the new elements and how they appear in the authoring interface.

Don’t forget, you can be your own author on Adafruit Playground. Show off the cool projects you have been working on and help share knowledge with your fellow makers.

New Guides on the Adafruit Learning System

Bajoran AirPods
The Ruiz Brothers show how to 3D‑print a pair of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine inspired Bajoran ear pieces designed to hold and secure Apple AirPods. The guide covers printing, assembly, and how the friction‑fit holder and print‑in‑place chain work together to create a wearable, customizable accessory. It’s a fun mashup of cosplay aesthetics and practical everyday use.

Planetary Gear Dreidels
Liz Clark builds a whimsical planetary‑gear mechanism that spins three dreidels at once using a KB2040 running CircuitPython and an STSPIN220 stepper driver. The guide walks through the gearing, electronics, and code that bring the chaotic, multi‑dreidel motion to life. It’s a playful holiday project that blends mechanical design with smooth, quiet stepper control.

You can only open this box with the right sequence of tilting and shaking! from DFRobot on Hackster.io:

Christmas is coming, any ideas for Christmas gifts now? I was trying to seek online for a long time to find special and surprising gifts for my loved ones, but finally, nothing. It seems hard to discover unique presents. Well, at last, I determined, this year, I am gonna spend time on making a special gift box. This box will be opened only when shaken to the right directions in order.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!

Yes, it’s real. In the words of the National Institute of Health: “The PediSedate was designed to address this problem by delivering nitrous oxide in oxygen through a simple nosepiece, combined with an interactive video component, so that children can use attention and distraction with drug delivery.” Here’s more from Hackaday:

Adults are typically comfortable in the medical environment and tolerate anaesthesia well. For children, though, the experience can be altogether more daunting. Thus was invented the PediSedate—a device which was marketed almost like a Game Boy accessory intended to deliver anaesthetic treatment in order to safely and effectively prepare children for surgery.

See and learn more!
