NPR has been publishing absolutely fantastic pieces for the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Our favorite feature so far is the series All Rap Is Local which provides a city-by-city guide to hip-hop’s beginnings to contextualize hip-hop’s importance and appeal. All Rap Is Local has mapped hip-hop in Boston, New York, the DMV/Virginia Beach, Detroit/Flint, Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans, Houston, Seattle and the Bay Area and will cover Los Angeles next!
