Concept Art for David Cronenberg’s “Total Recall” #cyberpunk

I just recently re-read the PK Dick short story, “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” (in Pat Cadigan’s excellent collection, The Ultimate Cyberpunk).

Reading the story reminded me how much I love PKD, this story, all of his stories that were made into films, and the huge influence he had on cyberpunk. It also reminded me how much the Paul Verhoeven Total Recall was a big meh for me.

But did you know that body-horror auteur, David Cronenberg, was originally slated to direct Recall? Back in 2012, artist Ron Miller, who had done concept art for the film, posted some of it in a Gizmodo article. It’s really fun to think how different a Cronenberg version would have been.
