Real vs Fake NE5532 OpAmp ICs – Fake Version is “Bare minimum to operate as opamp”

It’s almost comical what counterfeiters try to pass as legitimate pieces of hardware. Zeptobars has full-size images of this real (left, obviously) and fake (right, double-obviously) NE5532 opamp – the left image is a genuine TI-brand IC and the right image is sold as “Ti” at approximately 1/20th the cost of the real deal component:

We have spotted yet another real/fake pair of very common microchip. This time it is Ti NE5532. NE5532 is a very fine opamp which will do just fine in 99% of audio applications. I afraid it got at bit of bad fame due to fakes which have quantitatively slower slew rate and sound objectively worse.
