Orion, the Pathfinder’s Crown is a neat wearable that can be worn for festivals, cosplay, and more. Made for a friend to wear at Coachella, the crown was made using Adafruit products.

I juggled electrical and mechanical challenges. I had to work with a new microcontroller – the adafruit flora – and install the LED strips within the tight confines of the printed crowns. I had to add in cable routing features into my 3D model. I laser cut two strips of diffusion film and had to carefully install them within the printed crown. And I had to carefully strain relieve all cables and generally make sure this was rugged enough to survive travel and a dusty, sweaty environment.
