Zenithal shading is all the rage in miniature painting. This is where you spray paint a light/white top-down (from the zenith) shade on the miniature after priming which adds highlights to the top of everything on the mini as you add successive layers of paint.
In nadiral shading, you do the opposite. After the mini has been basecoated, you airbrush a thin dark wash from the bottom-up to create all of the undershading/low-light areas of the model.
