3D Printing Rescues a Vintage Gizmo

We all know the common wisdom about 3D printers, that they can be used to print and replace the broken parts on the things in our lives. Here’s a fun example of that.

Morley Kert acquired a vintage punch card clock. It all seemed to work like a charm until he discovered that the printer ribbon was not actually advancing.

The makers of the device wanted to sell him the missing advancing wheel for $100. Looking at a video of the workings of the clock, he was able to reverse engineer and print a wheel for .09. Good one, Prusa i3!
