The Matrix Portal is a board we released about a year ago https://www.adafruit.com/product/4745 it can drive large RGB matrices easily, and get onto WiFi networks, without a full linux install. It features a SAMD51 + ESP32, but we have been seeing massive lead times for SAMD51 chips – so we used the silicon shortage to goad ourselves into a redesign we’d been meaning to do. Here’s a re-spin with just an ESP32-S2 to do all the heavy lifting. It’s the same physical size too! Coming soon!
