What happens if you don’t put your phone in airplane mode?

Every time I board I plane I automatically turn on airplane mode and every time I press that button I wonder why, think “I should google this when I turn off airplane mode” which I immediately forget and proceed with my regular flight activities – taking a nap for as long as possible. Luckily for me, and maybe even for you, the folks at TED-Ed explain what airplane mode and how it works in less than 5 minutes.
