I created a joystick for switching the inputs of an ATEM Mini while operating a handheld camera.
Inside the housing is an Wemos D1 Mini and a joystick module (https://www.ebay.de/itm/174943438920). You need 4* M3 sinkhead screws for assembly.
The header of the joystick module must be removed and instead cables are soldered directly to the ESP.
The joystick is connected to the 3.3V pin of the board. Since the ESP only has one analogue input, I soldered the other output of the joystick to a digital input. The switch output of the module is connected to a second digital input. This means that 4 actions can be triggered with the joystick: Left, right, front and a button press.
I have programmed the ESP in such a way that it changes the camera in the preview when moving to the left or right, performs a cut when moving to the front and an auto-transition when pressing the button down.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!
Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
