Let’s face it. If you have a workshop and use a lot of edged tools (knives, cutters, drills, saws, mowers, etc) the chances are high that you don’t sharpen them nearly as often as you should. I can say this with confidence because I know of few but the most organized and fastidious of makers who regularly clean and sharpen their tools. I have vowed to get better at this in my new shop, but we’ll see.
Laura Kampf was in a similar pickle. She has the sharpening gear, she just didn’t feel like dragging it all out on a regular basis. The solution? Build a dedicated, wall-mounted sharpening station.
