How to Spot the Constellation Leo in the Night Sky #SpaceSaturday

Leo is a great constellation to be able to find. Most everyone’s heard of Leo the Lion, but not everyone can find it. Leo is clearest in March, April, and May. Here are some tips on finding Leo from BBC’s Science Focus:

The easiest way to find Leo is by using the pattern of stars (known as an asterism) called the Plough or Big Dipper. At this time of year, the Plough will be high in the sky’s northern hemisphere.

Within the Plough lie two ‘pointer stars’ named Merak and Dubhe. These stars can be used to point in the direction of the North Star (Polaris) but we can also use them to find Leo.
