New York state sees lowest one day positive infection rate since start of the pandemic and other news 8/9/2020 –
“New York state has the lowest one day positive infection rate for coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday during the state’s Covid-19 call. New York has an infection rate of 0.78%.”
Getting a COVID-19 test today in NYC means you need to wait at least 10 days and most likely 14 days as per the testing site I was at today (test took less than 10 mins total).
Total cases update, in the USA …
“There are now at least 5,000,603 cases of coronavirus in the US and at least 162,441 people have died in the country from virus, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.”
The world is over 19m+ cases and 728k+ deaths.
We’ll see if Sturgis, SD ends up being a super-spreading event (it’s in the news at the moment since 250k+ people around the USA are going there, and then back to their locations in about 8 days).
The other upcoming “wait and see” are the infection rates where school is returning to in-person classes. In NYC the guidance is school until 3% positivity rate and/or of course specific positive tests for a student/staff.
Parts of NYC are still without power, it will be one full week soon, we had one team member without power for over 2 days, and many without internet access for the same period or more. the weather may continue to be intense this season.
