Are you guys ready to dive into the dollhouse project with me?
Finally finishing the tiled table project means I have a bit more time to work on a new project… Frankie’s antique dollhouse! The first step will be overhauling it – repainting, fixing and removing the blue felt carpet. Then the next stage will be all about the details! There’s 8 rooms so there’s lots of opportunity for different details and to include all of Frankie’s favourite (also my favourite lol) things. I have been busy planning the details and also working out how in the world to make everything.
I have started building a Dollhouse Pinterest board to gather my inspiration, and there is so much info online about making miniatures. But to be honest, I’m mainly drawn to real life rooms and inspiration for how this doll house is going to come together! I know that might make it a little tricky when it comes to actually executing it, but I’m happy to dive right in! I’ve been gathering imagery for the transformation, looking for details that I like. My main goal is that it’s a really fun little house with lots of colour and all of frank’s favourite things. The antique dollhouse already has a cottage/American home feel so I’m trying to take that into account with my ideas! Scroll down for some details I like.
A few details that have caught my eye…
- Swings, playroom and other cute kids details.
- White washed tongue and groove walls (aka VJ panelling).
- Mixed furniture including modern, mid century and coastal.
- Creative use of colour on walls, doors, nooks etc.
- Cute window box seating.
- Build in shelves.
- Greens in the kitchen.
- Terracotta tiles, and lots of terracotta vases. Of course!
